Troxel Was Named In Christine Gibbons’ Lawsuit Claiming She Was Not Reappointed As Registrar For Political Reasons

Former Lynchburg Registrar Christine Gibbons Sued Troxel And The City Claiming That Troxel Did Not Vote To Reappoint Her To The Position Because She Doubted Conspiracy Theories Claiming That The 2020 Election Was Stolen From President Trump. According to WSET, “Gibbons is suing Vice-Chair Steve Troxell and Board Secretary Betty Gibbs, along with the Lynchburg Electoral Board. She claims she was fired because she was not part of a group within the Republican party that ‘loudly professed’ that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump ‘whether they themselves believe it or not,’ according to lawyers involved in the case.” [WSET, 7/4/23]

Troxel And Gibbs Both Voted Against Reappointing Gibbons As Registrar. According to Electoral Board meeting minutes, when Neumeyer made a motion to reappoint Gibbons as Registrar, both Troxel and Gibbs voted against the motion. [Lynchburg Electoral Board, 5/2/23]
