Overview
The Executive Cabinet comprises the Attorney General, the Chief Financial Officer, and the Commissioner of Agriculture. Fla. Const. Art. IV, § 4(a). The Cabinet does not play a direct role in election administration. However, it serves as the selection pool for members of the Elections Canvassing Commission, which certifies federal, state, and multi-county offices in Florida. [1] Fla. Stat. § 102.111.

Attorney General
Selection and Vacancy Information
- Elected: The Attorney General of Florida is elected every even-numbered year in which a presidential election is not occurring. Fla. Const. Art. IV, § 5(a) (instructing the “state-wide general election [to occur] in each calendar year the number of which is even but not a multiple of four”).
- Term of Office: The term of office for the Attorney General of Florida is four years. See Fla. Const. Art. IV, § 5(a).
- Next Election: The next general election for Attorney General of Florida will be on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Fla. Const. Art. IV, § 5(a) (instructing the “state-wide general election [to occur] in each calendar year the number of which is even but not a multiple of four”); Fla. Stat. § 100.031.
- Qualifications:
- They must be at least 30 years old by the time they are elected. Fla. Const. Art. IV, § 5(b).
- They must have resided in the state for the preceding seven years by the time they are elected. Fla. Const. Art. IV, § 5(b).
- They must have been a member of the Bar of Florida for the preceding five years at the time they are elected. Fla. Const. Art. IV, § 5(b).
- Vacancy:**
- If the vacancy occurs when there are fewer than 28 months in the original term, the Governor will fill the vacancy by appointment, and the appointee will serve for the remainder of the original term. Fla. Const. Art. IV, § 1(f).
- If the vacancy occurs when there are more than 28 months left in the original term, the Governor will still fill the vacancy by appointment, but the appointee will only serve until the Tuesday after the next general election.
